Working with one of Mexico’s leading Banks, a global leader
Banco Santander is a global bank, acknowledged in 2012 as the Best Bank in the World, according to the annual classification by Euromoney.
Santander is the leading financial group in Spain and Latin America. It also has important positioning in the UK, Germany, Portugal, Poland, and in the North West of the USA.
The Educational Strategy Management at Santander detected a number of improvable points in their online training. Due to the organisation’s vast activity, it was complicated to generate new contents at the speed required to satisfy training needs.
Also, training sessions were taking up too much of the employees’ time, often making their tasks seem rather tedious. There was a specific demand for bringing their e-learning up to date and opting for new, more agile products, which would allow for more effective and pleasant training.
Contents needed to be created quickly and easy to update.
Training sessions were taking up too much of the employees’ time, often making their tasks seem rather tedious.
We travelled to our client’s offices in Mexico, and joined their team as consultants in order to participate in their training strategy.
We chose to apply our learningCoffee philosophy. Using the internal company knowledge, we created a number of new titles aimed at assimilating concepts easily.
We combined smaller units to create adjustable courses. This concept turned the units into agile training and consultation tools, as students could access the parts they were interested in without having to go through the whole course each time.

One of the requirements by Banco Santander Mexico was for training to be made available at any time, on their employees’ mobile devices.
Thanks to the multi-device format of the contents, we managed to simplify production. One title would function just as well on a PC as on smartphones and tablets.
For distribution, we initiated a pilot program using learningApp, allowing employees to access traceable training without an Internet connection.

Result: an improvement in how workers see company training
The learningCoffee format was perfectly suited to the needs of Santander Mexico’s students. The possibility of seeing the creation process of a banking product in one document proved to be an attractive idea.
learningCoffee provides an agile and dynamic format, reducing the amount of time required for training.
Training sessions were carried out in 30-40 minutes, considerably reducing the amount of time students were used to spending on company training, and it became possible for them to access learning through their mobile devices.
Following the success of the first pilots, these sessions have reached up to 16,000 students!
